In 1996 Matt Redford founded a small kayak eco-tour company called Chesapean Kayak Tours in Virginia Beach, VA. At the time there was no kayak tour company in the area that specialized in sea kayak trips to see bottlenose dolphins near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Almost a full decade later, Matt has logged more hours than any other guide in the area for such tours. Matt has also worked as a sea kayak guide in the Hawaiian Islands leading whale watching tours and kayak snorkel trips. He is a founding member of the Virginia Eco-Tourism Association and Co-sponsor for the annual Paddle for the Bay. As a former graduate of Virginia Tech, Matt has a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a minor in Environmental Studies. In his spare time Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Katie and son Pearce at the beach especially when the surf is good.
